Totally Freaking Out

Quick note -- in 48 hours we'll be landing in Guatemala. There are a BILLION things I absolutely MUST get done before then. I haven't been slacking off, so how could it possibly be Thurs afternoon already?! The fabulous news is that the medical clinic, vet clinic, and tamale basket projects have all MET OR EXCEEDED THEIR GOALS. Can you believe that?? I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of people who are mostly strangers to each other. You honestly wouldn't believe the sheer volume of supplies that have been donated, plus thousands of dollars in cash donations (mostly straight to Mayan families). People are AMAZING! - - - But there is this little matter of having to board a plane, bound for Guatemala, and leave BabyGirl and Gary here in the States. I'm feeling a bit panicky. I think it's a good thing my suitcase is stuffed with 100lbs of desperately needed medical supplies, worth several thousand dollars. That trumps my irrational desire to say no, no, no, I changed my mind, I can't go... aaaaahhhhhhh! - - - Okay, I've got to push this out of my head and go inventory the three more boxes that arrived today. (Yes, Those silly medical people want to actually know what medical supplies are on hand. They didn't like my suggestion of running the clinic on a medical-bag-o-surprise system. And, btw, the strange medical objects that I've inventoried in the last week... some of them I didn't even want to KNOW existed. I sooooo could have NEVER worked in the medical field. ) - - - We'll be blogging on the www.HelpingMayanFamilies.org site about the service project everyday while we're there. In addition, I'll try to blog here about my personal thoughts. I suppose not everyone on the HMF site will want to read about Angela prying me out of my airport seat once we land. :-)
